hey...well sorry for the lack of updates...
were pulling into coupland, tx right now. coupland is outside austin and the venue were playin tonight is the coupland dancehall and inn. its an oooold place...opened in 1886 or something like that. im listenin to my brand new ragweed cd, but shh your not supposed toknow i have it yet...its almost 2 months early of its release. but i guess thats a perk to being in this business.
im gettin back to a better spiritual life! even wrote a song about it and it might even make the next cd...someday....whenever that is. were all having a rough day today...the bus AC has gone out and the temp gauge is saying is about 97 degrees outside and that its 107 degrees in the bus. imagine that! ive decided im not gonna stay in amarillo anymore during the week...its boring and its pretty sad when you would rather spend your time in grand prairie than someother city...
i meet one of my all time heroes a couple of weeks ago....mr. tuff hedeman. hes a cooder fan apparently and came out to see us in oklahoma city. when the show was over i ran onto the bus and there he was. i started talkin to him and he eventually said..."i tell you what, go find me a cooder graw hat, and this cowboy hat im wearin is yours..." so i RAN off the bus (by this time i didnt care how much of a little kid i looked like) and found him one. he gave me his hat and autographed it "to jon. cowboy up, dont be a pussy -tuff hedeman 2005". i was in heaven! for those of you who dont know, tuff's life was portrayed in the movie 8 Seconds. its the story of the bull rider lane frost and tuff was his best friend. tuff is a championship bull rider and i look up to him so much, hell, my dog is named after him!
lets see...2 weeks ago i got to meet some rock n roll idols of mine aswell. we pulled into a luvs gas station somewhere at about 2 in the mornin...between el campo tx and new braunfels tx. a really nice tour bus was parked next to ours and gyro (our front house sound engineer, bus driver, cooder graw everything) asked the other bus driver whose bus it belonged to and he said System Of A Down...but they werent on it...The Mars Volta were. HOLY CRAP! i started calling everyone i knew (that would be up at 2 in the mornin) because i had to tell someone! i ended up standing in line with them at the luvs subway there and got to talk to them. Jon Theodore the drummer, however, was already asleep. i think hes one of the best drummers out there! but it was still cool to meet the other guys.
well were about here so i should get ready to do my thing. love you guys and hope to see you soon! -Jon |
